Hegemonic Masculinity is a technique that affirms men's dominant position in society while justifying women's subjugation and other suppressed aspects of masculinity (Connell 2005). This norm has penetrated men across the United States, with the assumption that men, by definition, hold dominant social roles over women and other gender identities in our culture. This was created to describe the social order and gender hierarchy. It's all about reinforcing men's sense of masculinity and authority.
We believe these beliefs, which, once again, have no real or meaningful worth for women or human beings. This component of social viewpoints of what it means to be masculine is directly responsible for many of the problems we face today.
